new" Cruiser ladder-framed Airstream. This model would be lengthened
in 1954 to 26', and eventually become the "Overlander" model.

Some of
the early flat-ended ladder frame ('50/'51) Airstreams had 15 panels
end caps, as Airstream must
have played around with different
curved end looks, all changing to 13 panels in 1952, 7 in 1958
and 5 in 1965. The early skins were just
flat
pie-shaped
strips,
and
as
tooling
and methods refined, the number of panels decreased. |
