If you are in need of dial lettering for your General Electric Model 50 or GE 8H59 radio, visit my Radio Decal Page. ![]() You can tour some of the radios I've sold over the last couple of years from this site in the Radio Gallery Archives. |
To greatly improve the reception of a
vintage AM sets, I suggest using the compact Terk AM 1000 Active
Antenna - requires no power or special connections to the set.

Any unique conditions of the radio is noted in the description, but it should be expected that small scuff marks, scratches and tiny hairline cracks are part of the patina that such a household item would expect to develop over such a period of time. All radios unless noted are Bakelite. These radios use tubes. As a result, they almost all require 110v AC power unless noted. The radios take a minute to warm up, and generate heat - but it is that comforting glow from the tubes that we all remember. Tubes are still plentiful should one ever burn out. These radios are AM. The AM band is alive and well, with talk, news, classical, C&W, oldie and pop stations. AM signals travel farther than FM, and reception is actually better in the mountains, but are subject to powerline interference and atmospheric conditions. Unless noted, all the radios come with built in antennas and have the original backs. *It is also quite popular to use an inexpensive local transmitter to broadcast to your older AM radios from your tape or CD player, allowing you to listen to old-time programs and music from an earlier era. For more information, check this website: http://www.ramseyelectronics.com I sell these radios pretty much at my cost of acquisition and parts, and maybe $1.00/hour labor. I do it as a way to combine the two interests of vintage radios and vintage Airstreams. Radios are dismantled and cleaned. I restore the case and hardware, restore the radio electrical operation, replace the filter capacitors, align the set, reassemble and then polish the radio. If you have any questions or want additional pictures, contact me for more information. ShippingAll radios are $14.75 shipping, insurance and packing in the USA via Fed-Ex. E-mail for International rates.
